Mixed-use development
Situated in the vibrant Tsawwassen Common developing area, this project responds to the pressing need for rental units in a thriving community. Following the opening of shopping malls and commercial establishments, the demand for housing has escalated. To address this urgency, the proposed development comprises two interconnected buildings, offering a total of 250 rental units.
With a focus on maximizing space utilization, the development features a comprehensive parking structure that spans the entire block, effectively minimizing the need for surface parking. Emphasizing community well-being, an elevated platform within the project is dedicated to a public garden. This verdant space not only enhances the living environment for residents but also serves as a tranquil retreat open to the public, providing a harmonious connection to nearby commercial facilities.
Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the First Nations, the architectural design incorporates traditional art elements. Signage and building decorations tastefully incorporate three key Coast Salish style motifs: the crescent, circle, and trigon. These artistic elements are thoughtfully repeated throughout the project, seamlessly integrating cultural symbolism into the fabric of the development. Reflecting a reverence for traditional craftsmanship, the building entrance and common areas showcase meticulous heavy timber construction, further enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere.
This transformative project caters to the urgent demand for rental units in Tsawwassen Common while celebrating cultural preservation and community enrichment. Through a harmonious blend of modern living and cultural appreciation, residents and visitors alike will experience a sense of pride and belonging within this vibrant community.
